Open house

Open houseWe are living in a house without windows. Well, at least partially: our kitchen and home and living room do not have walls. So we are always outside. We don’t see walls, we see the world. We enjoy the nature around us. Birds and insects fly through our house. We see the woodpecker in the tree at the other side of the road and hear its pecking. The scent of jasmine is everywhere.

People drop by easily. Children are walking in, for the garden changes into our living almost without a break. So our children always have friends to play with.

Disadvantages? Sometimes a few too many flies and beetles drop into your meal. Sometimes it becomes a bit tiresome that people are calling out in passing to those strange foreigners- though the intention is always friendly. Sometimes when it’s 40 Celsius the gentle breeze is not enough compensation for the natural floor heating by an unfriendly sun.

But having taken everything into account, I still say there is something better than living in a glass house: living in a house without glass.

Your living room gets wet during the rainy season don’t it?

We would go for this! Except… how about mosquitoes??

@Dallas Kirk: That’s clever, yes it does. But not too bad, because the 2nd floor sticks out a bit.

@Peter and Kelly: The mosquito’s are not too bad here.
